The Reverend Dr., Michael A. Poke, Sr.

Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus The Christ
We give thanks for this Spring Web Addition.

Dear Members and Friends:

Over the last several months we have witnessed the great move of God here at our Church.  People are giving their lives to Christ and many are returning to church. To date, we have had 23 to come with 11 of them to be candidates for baptism. Recently, I talked with a number of pastors across the country and they to share good news of increased attendance and people giving their lives to Christ. I am truly encouraged by this move of God that in the mist of economic hard times people are turning to God. As God continues to add to the church such as should be save, we hear at St. Paul must put our arms around them and show them the love of knowing a wonderful Savior. It is time for the people of God to step their game up. I encourage the people of God, and pray for a renew commitment of serving the Lord though your Time, Spiritual Gifts, Tithes, Testimony and Trust. Committing not only one or two of these, but all of these to the Glory of God.

Our Sacrificial Giving Campaign (The Forty-Seven Club) for 2009 is underway. The campaign offers several categories of giving: Senior, $300.00 annually-which would be $25.00 monthly, Single, $600.00 annually-which would be $50.00 monthly, Married $1200.00 annually- which would be $100.00 monthly, or what the Lord places on your heart. If we want the blessings of God upon our house; we must first take care of His house. "I will not offer unto God that which cost me nothing " (11 Samuel 24:24b)". All of us can do something and something is better than nothing. I trust we will make this a matter of prayer.

The St. Paul Community and Economic Development Corporation "SPCEDC" is sponsoring its Second Annual Charity Golf Tournament, Saturday, June 20, 2009, at the Big Bend Golf Course starting at 2:00 p.m. Proceeds will go toward Community Development in the Amandaville area. Applications for the tournament may be received at the Church Office. Deadline for registration is 1:00 p.m. June 20, 2009. Donations and pledges are being accepted. Send to "SPCEDC" Box 1033, St. Albans, WV 25177.

We have just celebrated the Most Holy time of the year, the Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus The Christ. Resurrection Sunday celebrates the victory of Christ over death. This celebration helps us see that the suffering of the cross was a supreme trumpet, not tragedy. The veil was rent which gave us personal access to the Father and the gift of eternal life upon accepting Him as Our Savior. That's good news.

To God be the glory,

Pastor Michael A. Poke, Sr.
